Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota, a state of the United States of America. It is also the county seat of Burleigh County and the second largest city in North Dakota. The population was 55,532 at the 2000 census. Bismarck was named for the German chancellor Otto von Bismarck and founded in 1872.
