Des Moines is a very prosperous, rapidly growing, metropolitan area. Des Moines has grown considerably in recent years, and can now be compared to cities such as, Boise, Madison, Tacoma, and Hartford to name a few.
In 2003, Forbes magazine ranked the Des Moines metropolitan area 8th on its list of “Best Places For Business And Careers,” based on the cost of doing business, housing affordability, educational attainment, crime rate, and the number of Ph.D.’s per 100,000 residents.
No tags for this post.Davenport is a city in the American state of Iowa that borders the Mississippi River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 98,359. A 2005 estimate tells that the city had grown slightly to 98,845. The city is part of the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois.
Several well-known annual festivals take place in Davenport. Notable festivals are the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, The Mississippi Valley Fair, and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, dedicated to Davenport native Bix Beiderbecke. An internationally known seven-mile foot race called the Bix 7 is run during the festival.

Paris, France and Osaka, Japan are believed to be the only other cities in the world to have their municipal buildings located on an island in a river.
Cedar Rapids is known as the City of Five Seasons, where the fifth season is “a time to enjoy.” The symbol of the five seasons is the Tree of Five Seasons sculpture in downtown Cedar Rapids. The name “Five Seasons” and representations of the sculpture appear in many forms.
